Literature Text

A creature of beauty, elegance, and grace
With feathers precious as white lace
Perched before his ethereal master
Spoke with a voice like gentle laughter
Though the words were soft and sincere
In them the lie Apollo could plainly hear.
With flaming eyes his gaze burned
The messenger by whom he was spurned.
Feathers that were once pure and white
Now black as the darkest night.
The bird cried out, no words he spoke
All that was heard was a harsh croak.
Apollo cursed the bird forevermore
So when it sang, people shut their door.
Its name was lost, but its curse we know
Once a messenger, now a crow.
a poem i wrote about how the crow became black and its voice ugly. this is based on an actual myth, i didnt just pull it out of my but. thinking of doing some more greek and roman mythology legend based poetry. comments please!
